Persevere

Unable to sleep. Intrusive and inescapable pain. New experience of deep, endless, physical anguish. A pinched nerve in my neck.

I reflect on the many people who live with pain daily—cancer, herniated disc, abuse… Some persevere, some misuse drugs, some commit suicide. I have a new appreciation of their desperation when nothing brings relief.

Jesus, please teach me to persevere in faith and to hope in You more. I know You still love me, are truly good, are all-powerful, and are with me. I pledge to persevere and not give up or give in when I feel hopeless. I will walk with You, lean on You, and trust You, Jesus. You are The Only Hope in painful circumstances.
