Hope of answered prayers

An answer to my prayers came to life on the screen. We’d resided in Spain years ago and recently were watching an online church service.

There, we’d rented a house in a small town. It was crossed east to west by a two-lane road. Both entering and exiting the pueblo, we were confronted by a “Club” sign emblazoned on each building. Club is a euphemism used for a place where women are brought from other countries against their will for sexual exploitation and for the financial gain of traffickers.

I’d prayed often for the women trapped, abused, and disparaged by the community. No antitrafficking ministries/organizations existed in those days. Even still, I prayed that somehow they would be rescued, aided with recovery, and given new life in Jesus Christ.

Today, online, we saw two women celebrating their graduation from a program supported by the church we’d attended years ago. Thankfully, many other women have experienced rescue and new life in the intervening years. Praise the Lord, who hears and answers prayers!
